E-Legend: an EV from Germany serving as a homage to the old Audi Quattro

In this post, we will touch on a not-so-popular start-up from Germany and its prototype. We keep seeing new EVs from China all the time. But this time Germany has come to steal the spotlight. We’re talking about E-Legends EL1.

The design of this car is inspired by Audi’s 1980 pioneering Quattro rally car. It’s got a blocky front mask, and it looks retro overall. It is stated on their website that they will only create 30 vehicles of EL1. With that, they will produce two other models, with also 30 cars for each. That comes out to 90 vehicles total. According to E-Legend, the car should weigh around 3700 pounds. Compared to Mercedes EQS’s 5400 pounds, this sounds good.

The company rumored these performance metrics:

  • 0 to 100km/h in 2.8sec
  • 249 miles of range (400km)
  • 90kWh battery
  • all-wheel drive
  • 150 kW DC fast charge

The EL1 is supposed to be hand-built, and it will cost more than $1.3 million on the European market. Comments on the internet showed mixed opinions. A lot of them liked the design, but no one can justify the price of $1.3 million when there are so many options for under $60,000 right now. What do you think?
