Hongqi has started shipping the first batch of its luxurious SUVs: E-HS9. We have reviewed this model in one of our previous posts, mentioning that it belongs to the group of most expensive cars manufactured in China. Even so, the marque is well respected by Chinese government officials, and the brand is considered prestigious.
Hongqi decided to target Norway as their expansion target for Europe, as Norwegians were early adopters of electric vehicles from the start, and they can provide a good starting point for expansion onto a new continent. The Chinese carmaker claims that more than 500 orders for its SUV have already been placed in the Scandinavian country.
In a press release, the company stated that they won the trust of a large userbase located in Norway, due to their “unique Eastern luxury and charm”.
Hongqi E-HS9 has three battery variants, but only two will be available in Norway: 84 kWh and 99 kWh. WLTP range for these two is 390km (242 miles) and 460km (285miles), respectively.
Model | horsepower | battery size | 0-100km/h | price in $/NOK |
Hongqi E-HS9 Comfort | 429 | 84kWh | 6.5 | $72,540 / NOK619,900 |
Hongqi E-HS9 Premium | 543 | 99kWh | 4.9 | $81,900 / NOK699,900,00 |
Hongqi E-HS9 Exclusive | 543 | 99kWh | 4.9sec | $91,260 / NOK779,900 |
Motor Gruppen, a well-known Norwegian electric car import distributor, has been signed as the Chinese company’s first European commercial partner. The Hongqi E-HS9 will be available in Norwegian retailers in December, according to the carmaker’s local consumer website. Hongqi intends to send more compact and medium SUVs and sedans to Norway and other European nations in the future.
