NIO ES8 tests in Norway, and talks about the strategy for the future

First, NIO announced that it would expand its markets outside of China, and it decided to target Norway. After the emergence in Norway, they will slowly go south, targeting both Germany and Netherlands. NIO is going after some of the strongest countries in Europe. One reason for this could be, that the European marketplace is not oversaturated, as for example, Chinese is.

If you’re not familiar with NIO, it is a Chinese automobile manufacturer, specializing in designing and developing electric vehicles. They’ve been around since 2014, but publicity wasn’t there until recently. Besides the cars, they also have their own food, coffee, wardrobe, and a bunch of different things. Its mission is to create a lifestyle brand, instead of a regular car manufacturer.

NIO will directly build its sales and service networks in Norway. The first NIO House outside China will officially open in the third quarter on Karl Johans Gate, the business and cultural center of the city of Oslo. In 2022, four NIO Spaces will open in Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim, and Kristansand. Source: link

NIO ES8 test drives in Oslo

As stated in a report from CnEVPost, on the 30th of August, NIO opened submissions for a test drive of their latest ES8. In three days, almost 300 spots were filled.

There are two terrains this vehicle can be tested at. For the experience of the power and off-road scenarios with the car, there is Heen Grustak off-road track. For the acceleration and the handling performance of the car, the runway at Eggemoen Airport near Oslo is the way to go.

NIO App has recently made it into the Norwegian market. On the 16th of August, it was released on both App Store and Google Play Store. Now, future brand owners can have their own social media to post slick photos of their cars. That, and the community where they can find other NIO owners.
