First, NIO announced that it would expand its markets outside of China, and it decided to target Norway. After the emergence in Norway, they will slowly go south, targeting both Germany and Netherlands. NIO is going after some of the strongest countries in Europe. One reason for this could be, that the European marketplace is not oversaturated, as for example, Chinese is.
If you’re not familiar with NIO, it is a Chinese automobile manufacturer, specializing in designing and developing electric vehicles. They’ve been around since 2014, but publicity wasn’t there until recently. Besides the cars, they also have their own food, coffee, wardrobe, and a bunch of different things. Its mission is to create a lifestyle brand, instead of a regular car manufacturer.
NIO will directly build its sales and service networks in Norway. The first NIO House outside China will officially open in the third quarter on Karl Johans Gate, the business and cultural center of the city of Oslo. In 2022, four NIO Spaces will open in Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim, and Kristansand. Source: link
