Volkswagen has had great success with most innovations in the past couple of years. Recently, they have been working on expanding their business model. The transformation from a car manufacturer to mobility services provider: by 2030, around 20 percent of revenue could come from subscriptions and other mobility offerings.
“A growing number of people don’t want to own a vehicle permanently, but would like the exclusive use of one for a defined period. The Volkswagen AutoAbo is a flexible new subscription offering that is mid-way between leasing and car sharing,” says Zellmer. “We estimate that, by 2030, around 20 percent of our revenue could come from subscriptions and other short-term mobility offerings.”

Here is a summary of what Volkswagen has in mind.
The price for model ID.3 will be starting from €499.00 (~$590), and we can assume that for ID.4, it is going to be higher. In the subscription package, they offer everything: a full-service package with registration, roadworthiness tests, maintenance and servicing, road tax and insurance. The only thing left is the battery charges that the user will have to pay.
In this approach, the carmaker hopes to expand its client base and create more income. They have a well-established brand, so we’re sure that the feedback is also going to be good.
